I had this same idea months ago when I thought up Mexican Lasagna. However, I never did act upon it. It was one of those ideas that kinda sorta went out of my mind like so many that I have. I probably didn’t have everything on hand and just sorta said I’ll do it later and later never came. That was until I ran across this same idea the other day on a blog. As soon as I saw it, I was like “aha”! So I put it on my menu and got the stuff to make it, my way.
What do you need?
- Thin Crust ready to bake pizza crust {I used Pillsbury}
- 3 cups shredded cheddar/pepper jack cheese
- 1 taco season packet
- 1 can refried beans
- 1 can green chilies chopped
- 2 pounds hamburger meat
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- shredded lettuce
- sour cream
What do you do?
- Brown the meat and drain off the grease. Mix in seasoning packet. Fill packet full of water and pour in. Mix together until meat is fully coated.
- Mix in the green chilies.
- Bake the pizza crust according to the directions. If you use the same one I had, you were to grease the pan and bake for 5 minutes before adding the toppings.
- Grind up your refried beans in a food processor until they have a smooth “whipped” texture.
- Spread the refried beans evenly onto the pizza dough all the way to the edges.
- Top with ground beef, evenly all over.
- Sprinkle the tomatoes all over.
- Top with cheese.
- Bake according the the dough directions or until the cheese is all bubbly and melted and the dough edges are golden brown.
- Slice like you would a pizza and plate up.
- Top with shredded lettuce and sour cream.

I love taco pizza, it combines both my love of pizza and Mexican food! I have made it both with pizza crust and then also my mom gave me a recipe to make it with cornmeal. It ususally depends on how much time I have which crust I use!
Thanks for sharing!
This looks absolutely delicious. It reminds me of a pizza I used to have in Cleveland. I don't know that my family would eat it but I may have to make an individual one for me. Thanks!
