Kayla’s Science Fair Project Organic vs Non-Organic Cleaning = Results!

With Kayla’s school they have to participate in the Science Fair every year, it counts for 2 big grades.  They don’t have to enter it into the actual “fair” portion for awards but they do have the task of doing the whole project backboard thing.
Last year Kayla did her project on what cleans up oil from water the best.  This year I suggested to her to do cleaning products; organic vs. non-organic.  The teacher loved this idea and she got an A on both the big grades.  AND, I got the chance to find out how well organic cleaning compares to those chemicals that we buy.

She compared the top 3 ways that we keep our house clean.  Glass cleaner, Multi-Purpose Cleaner {cuts grease and what not} and Shower cleaner {soap scum buster}.

The findings….Out of the 3 tests that were preformed the organic and non-organic cleaners cleaned the exact same as the chemical based cleaners or cleaned better.  With the Bathroom cleaners and the all purpose cleaners they cleaned the same.  The glass cleaner, the organic cleaner actually cleaned better.
So we learned something, Kayla made A’s and we have lot’s of cleaning products left!  Now I don’t have to hesitate and just buy the organic stuff!  Saves on my hands, and all of our lungs and it helps the planet!

I've always wondered if natural cleaners really worked...now I know it's okay to buy them:) This was such a fun idea for a science project!
