We went to the optometrist yesterday for Kayla’s one week check up. They are going to switch brands on her because she needs something stronger. :/ Her left eye is giving her the trouble. She has worn glasses since she was 5 when she was diagnosed with Amblyopia {lazy eye}.
{Kayla when she was 6}
It was something we didn’t even realize she had. Her eye never turned inward or outward and was always looking at whatever the right one was looking at. Apparently that wasn’t the problem with her lazy eye. Hers just had everything to do with the muscle not being strong enough to see. Her right eye was struggling to make up for it or something like that. It’s been 7 years so it’s really all kind of fuzzy what the optometrist exactly said. She wore a patch over her right eye for two years every afternoon after school for 4 hours and all day on the weekends to help strengthen up the left one. It worked. During that time frame we were at the optometrist office every 6 months and sure enough each and every visit her eye sight in that eye improved. Now we are where we are today. Since the left eye will never be as strong as her right one, there aren’t many contacts that go up that high in prescription. You find out a lot when you make a change. I thought that contacts would work for any and everybody and that all brands were kind of universal where they all did the same thing. Apparently that’s not the case.
She has ask for contacts for the last oh, I don’t know, 3 years. I have said no every year until this year. Something came up, a blogging thing and it had something to do with contacts. Anyways, that’s not what this is even about. Well, she got her chance and she has been thrilled. She told me the other day the reason why she’s really wanted them is because she didn’t want to be called “4 eyes” anymore. Geesh, kids are cruel!
Anywho. Kayla will get her newest prescription within the next week. She’ll be happy and so will I.

Look how cute she was!! I hope they get everything straighten out with her prescription...I'm sure she wants to have them when school starts!
Kayla does look super cute in the glasses but I totally understand wanting contacts. Kids are so mean about glasses. To this day I can't stand to wear my glasses in public. Sounds like I need therapy doesn't it, lol. Have a great one!
I love that picture of her! I hope the contacts work out for her and she can show off the beautiful browns even more :) Kids are so cruel...don't get me started!
