Kelsie’s Rainbow Themed Birthday Party

Kelsie turned 6 on Monday and we celebrated Sunday with a rainbow themed birthday party.  The theme was seriously put together very quick and last minute.  We knew we were having a party but I just neglected in getting decorations together.  I looked to none other than Pinterest and found some great ideas for the party.  And let me say if you want to have a party and not spend that much money and for it to still look great…the rainbow theme is definitely the way to go!
This is the first thing I found that I KNEW I had to make…..a balloon banner!!  As I watched The Karate Kid {the one with Will Smith’s kid..it’s really good if you haven’t seen it!} I proceeded to blow up balloons…not just a few either but oh I don’t know um 40 of them suckers!!  But it was well worth it!

You can find the tutorial for the balloon banner here.
Next up I made cupcakes and they were very cool according to the kids!

To make these is a piece of cake! ;-)  All you do is use a white cake mix and then divide up your cake batter and color each one with a different food coloring.  Layer them into your cake pans or cupcake liners and tada…an edible rainbow!
I bought a set of 4 canning jars from Target and some rainbow colored candy and filled each of the jars for the table.

I also dipped pretzel rods into white chocolate and then sprinkled them with the same rainbow sprinkles I used on the cupcakes.

I used a basic red table cloth and bought rainbow striped napkins and plates.  We used the ZooPals spoons and forks since they were colorful and fun.  And all I did for the “mat” under the cupcakes in the center of the table was layer different colored tissue paper.  Easy!  The rest of the cupcakes hung out in the kitchen.  I didn’t have time to make a cupcake tower thing.  But this worked for us.

Kelsie loved her party and was thrilled to get jars of candy to hang out on her dresser for the next week or so. :-)
