Ok, so sometimes we don’t want to talk about things with others because it’s embarrassing for whatever reason. Well, now after you read this and if you are in the same boat, maybe you’ll be more wiling to speak up even if it’s just to your doctor.
I’m referring to heavy monthly bleeding. Ok…wait before you run off. This is kind of important to me because, well um, Ihavethisproblem. There I said it really fast. Anyways. Now that it’s out there, let’s talk about it.
Did you know that according to a recent survey conducted by Mom Central and Healthy Women that 30% of women over the age of 17 have heavy or very heavy periods. That’s a lot when you think about it.
Most of the time when our menstruation cycle comes, it’s kind of annoying. But it’s something that a lot of people can live their daily lives without thinking about. It’s just that time of month again. However, for the 500 women that were surveyed 68% feel as if their periods control them. I know that feeling all too well. But, little did I and more than 75% know that there is help available for us.
You can read all the information about heavy periods on HealthyWomen.org. You can find out the causes, diagnoses, treatments, and some questions that you could ask your health care provider.
