Mrs. Paula Deen, You Won Me Over with Butter…

Zack and I were grocery shopping the other day while the kids spent the night with Z’s mom.  It was the best grocery trip ever!  No having to run to look at toys or nobody picked up candy asking “can I have this?”.  I would love to have her watch the girls every other week so that we could go grocery shopping. *smiles*

While we were down the isle with the tea Zack noticed some slice of cake with Paula Deen’s face on it…he picked it up and handed it to me…I said oh lets go find where it came from {the bakery}.  Well….We looked for it and could not find even a place where it would have been.

So what did we do…practically run back to the tea and pick up that slice of cake and bring it home.

It was the BEST decision ever.  Zack and I drooled all over this one slice of cake that we have to share.

I highly suggest that you all purchase this from your local Walmart if you have never experienced this before.

And if you want to make your own at home so you will have more than a slice, here is the recipe from Paula Deen’s website!

Ingredients:

Cake:
1 18 1/4-ounce package yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons butter, melted

Filling:
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 16-ounce box powdered sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter and mix well with an electric mixer.  Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9-inch baking pan.  Prepare Filling

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.  Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter and beat together.

Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well.  Spread over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes.  Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey.

Servings: 6 to 8 servings
Prep Time: 30 min
Cook Time: 40 min
Difficulty: Easy

Hey!!! This is that cake of hers that I make that I've told you about!! It is also the same cake that Freda made one time and I ended up eating half of it and getting sick...so worth it though :)
I will have to go find this next time I'm at the store.

I am so with you on not taking the kiddos to the store. I don't think I took Trey to WalMart until he was almost two. I love to go shopping late at night by myself. It seems like I can actually remember what I am going into get. We did try a Paula Dean pecan pie this Christmas and it was pretty good for a store bought cake.
Have a fabulous Monday!

Yes it is so much nicer when you don't have children with you, especially Walmart. I do get that chance here and there also..it is fun!

As far as the cake...I have made this also...been making this for years to. Gosh I saw this recipe when I was in my 20's and have fixed ever since. Yummy!

I have always wanted to try this recipe, but it looks so terribly fattening. I need to check our walmart and see if I can buy just one piece. Maybe that would keep me from wolfing down an entire cake.

I hope you are proud of yourself missy!! After reading your blog and remembering how much I love Lady & Sons, (I moved from Georgia to Texas 2 years ago),I bought this cake this morning at Walmart. I will hold you personally responsible for my hips because I plan on buying lots of these in the future!!

I make them quite often. So very easy to make, and wonderful with vanilla ice cream on top while they are hot.
