Christmas this year for many families will be very different than before. Our economy is in a recession and the gifts aren’t being purchased like they have been in the years past. People have lost their jobs and they are unable to afford the big Christmases that once sat under their tree.
I hope that this year is different for a lot of families. I hope that instead of sitting down and telling their kids that Santa can’t bring what he normally does, that instead they tell them the reason why Christmas is really celebrated. That it’s the birth of our Savior, Jesus. And let them know that Jesus only received 3 gifts. And that those 3 gifts were enough for him and that they should be enough for their children as well.
A great way to help celebrate the reason for the season is a Nativity scene. We have two of them. One that is off limits to the kids and then one that belongs to the kids. Kelsie received it last year for Christmas. To help celebrate Jesus' birth a lot of people don’t put out baby Jesus until Christmas day, since this is his birthday. What a nice little memory to add to your holiday season!
Merry Christmas!
