Random Sunday Afternoon Road Trip

My mother was notorious for road trips.  We would go almost every weekend some where.  I remember seeing the whole panhandle of Florida in about a years time.  We were all over the place.

--this post is very photo heavy--

Zack..the girls…and I have been West many times.  We love Sea Side and Water Color!  We haven’t been to the East of us in years.  Let’s say I can’t even remember the last time we went over that way.  And why I have no idea!  It’s awesome over that way.

Well on Sunday afternoon I said let’s go on a road trip.  Zack ask where…I said drive East on Business 98.  So that is where we headed.

We went to an island…played on a playground…saw some beautiful homes on Cape San Blas…took lot’s of photos…found a hidden gem…and made plenty of memories.

We took the scenic route the entire way.  Most of it is along the Gulf of Mexico so there is always something to look at.

Our first stop was across three different bridges to St. George Island.  Yea the one they thought Casey Anthony might have been on.  We didn’t see her! HA!

While there we found a great playground that the kids fell in love with.

And took a photo or two on the boardwalk going to the beach as well.

On the way back home we took a turn off to Cape San Blas.  This is a place that we used to go camping quite frequently.  The state park is gorgeous out there.  And the beach is unlike any other along the Gulf.  If you have the money to rent a place along the Gulf…I would highly recommend Cape San Blas!  Here are some pictures of the houses out there….

The one house named Jubilee…was for sale on a short sale…5 bedrooms…3.5 baths.  Gorgeous!  The girls and I walked up the steps and peeked inside some of the windows through the blinds.  Ha!  Wished I had the money to buy that one!

Along the road coming into the Cape San Blas there are rocks/boulders along the gulf side of the highway to help with storm surge.  The road there is always flooded when hurricanes or tropical weather is near by.  We stopped and had a photo shoot!

After we left there right before we turned back onto the main highway to bring us home…there was this park on the side of the road…that was a hidden little gem.  One of which we plan on utilizing this Fall.  It’s got clean bathrooms…screened in picnic table areas…a huge fire pit…a volley ball net with the ball…playground and this gorgeous pier that we walked out on and watched the sun set.

We had the best Sunday.  We all had a great time.  At first Kelsie fussed on the long car ride over but once we got to that island she was thrilled!  Then the rest of the trip was a piece of cake.  We really can’t wait to go on another random daytime road trip!

What a fun roadtrip! You got a ton of really got pictures! Jason and I have camped at the state park at Cape San Blas before! I think that is what we did for our 1st anniversary. We visited Port St. Joe and Appalachicola too!

What a fabulous road trip. I loved that you had no planes, well besides just to have fun. The photo of the girls looking at the water is beautiful.
Blessings!

This looks like such a fun time. Rondell love going for drives and would absolutely love to do something like that. All of your pictures are just great...especially the sun sets. I'm sure you'll have more drives in your future.
