Facebook…Are you Making this Mistake?

The other day I was on Facebook and for some reason this hit me like a ton of bricks…What is the deal with people posting there whereabouts on here?  Ok, so yea, I am guilty of mentioning that I’m going to pick up the kids from school or headed to Target or Publix after dinner, but you never really know what time that it is…and as we all know life happens and my Target or Publix trip could have gotten post poned…I never say “I’m going right now to…”, it’s always “after dinner I’m going to…” or “after I pick up the kids from school I’m going to…”.  Which is still probably more than I should list considering I have many people on my Facebook that I do not personally know.

However, I am noticing a trend that is one that nobody should be picking up on.  After all, your friends don’t care!  I promise.  It’s the trend of “checking in” at different locations.  I don’t know how it works exactly but I do know that several of my friends {well used to be friends, I took them off the other day} “check in” using, I suppose some sort of app on their cell phone.  You “check in” at the location you are at and it list on your Facebook for all to freaking see the time etc.

Now, why?  Why?  Why? Why be so stupid?  Literally!  I mean your telling all your friends on your Facebook where you are at that exact point in time.  If you had some freaky stalker on your friends list they could be watching you waiting for you to check in somewhere and then go and break in your house.  The days are gone where people used to sit outside your house or drive or walk by to stake you out, now they are just friending you on these social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, waiting until your stupid enough to post where it is exactly that you are.

So, please for your own and your family’s safety and the safety of your home and belongings, stop checking in!!  None of us care that you are at Target or McDonalds or Best Buy.  The only ones that do care are those that are watching you, a little too closely.

I agree! People forget that some people on the site may be a scary freaks! I try to never tell my whereabouts. Because well, I don't think anyone cares...unless again you are trying to break in or do harm!

That is so true and I heard about that the other day with FB. I am still holding off getting on FB. I think it would just take up more of my time and I'm not ready to do that.
