Everybody’s Invited to this Party

We are having a party and I want you all to come!  It’s a “Burn the Scale” party.  Am I serious?  Well yes and no.  No, we aren’t really going to set a pile of scales on fire, however if this would make you feel better, check your burn regulations and if you live out in the boonies and can burn them, by all means have at it! *smiles*  Because oh how I wished I could burn mine!

{and please do not think that this is the weight I am at. it’s the weight that i was when i won the spring fitness challenge last year.  i have since gained it all back, all 23 pounds of it!}

I have been “dieting” for a week and working out since Saturday.  The scale has not budged in the right direction.  As a matter of fact….it’s went up a pound!  What?  How is that possible?

Ok.  To be honest, yes I have cheated a couple of times.  But come on, not so much that would equal 3500 calories {which is a pound}.

It’s heart breaking to hobble {because I can’t step due to my inner thighs throbbing with every step} up on the scale and it not tell you what you want to hear.  When does it give?  Does it just fall off at once?  You diet and workout for several weeks, the scale doesn’t move and then one day you hop on and your down 10 pounds?  Is that the way it really works?

All I know is it’s frustrating!  I am frustrated!  How do you find that motivation to keep going when nothing is there to help push you along the way.  A drop in the numbers every once in a while would be nice.

And please, please don’t tell me it’s my thyroid.  It’s going to take a lot more of this for me to believe that I may have a problem.   I think that right now it’s probably because I am not “sticking exactly to the plan”, like I should.

However, that stopped on Wednesday.  I started full swing on my nutrition plan that I received from Kristin.  It’s a great plan, tailored just for me.  I was sorta on it, but honestly cheating.  It’s hard to give up sugar and with chocolate cake on my counter it’s even harder!

But I am pushing forward and hoping that some sort of pay off will happen fast.  Like one week fast. *smiles*

Does anybody else want to burn their scale?

I am an expert in this (ha). Trust me. It seems like anytime I start to workout, the scale goes up a little. I think when you start using your muscles (when you didn't before) something happens and water is retained. I'm really medical here - ha, can't you tell?

Just keep making wise choices and moving. You will see a change.

I have my 20 year reunion coming up in a few months and I refuse to go as the girl who got fat and had seven kids. I am bound and determined to lose 24 pounds before then. I just need someone to remind me of that when dinner time rolls around and my husband makes homemade cheese enchiladas. Yum!

My work has teams for Scale Back Alabama so I am trying to work on my weight to come down so I can keep up with my 6 year old. and I am 42. But it is coming off slowley andI have started walking. But yesterday I was so hungary I could have eaten a horse. I have cut down on my cola's and I have been drinking more water. Good luck to every one.

I don't even have a scale...they are evil!!! :) I have tried substituting water for pop and that's going OK so far. I just need to start exercising...that's where I'm struggling.

Oh yeah girl, my scale hasn't budged down since JULY. Good news is I havent gained though. But miles on the tredmill several times a week and shocking my system of carbs, low cal, starvation, EVERYTHING to no avail.

Just keep it up girl...rid your house of those chocolates! Temptation is just to hard somtimes!

The weight gain is probably because you are building up muscle. Muscle weighs more, but takes up less room. Another reason not to go strictly by the scale. You should also take your measurements because you will see a lot more changing there than you ever will on your scale.

Oh girl I have been thinking the same also...I have to do something...Lexi says I am fat and I breathe real heavy now at times...I have to get on the bandwagon. I have to stop the cokes...my big problem...I need all the encouragement I can get...wish me luck cause I was just talking to a friend about walking everyday now since the weather is getting back to more of a normal record so I can walk outside after work.

I am all for burning my scale. I feel your pain...I too worked out hard all week, endured the pain, and absolutely nothing when I stepped on the scale! Very frustrating to say the least! I am just going to keep going and hope for the best next week!

Have you tried sparkpeople.com? You can enter your weight and then your goal weight. It will give you a calorie range, along with carbs, fats, etc. It only takes a few minutes each day to enter your foods. It really helps to make sure that you're eating enough (and not too much).

You gained muscle. Don't worry, keep at it, and the scale will start to go in the other direction in no time.

So glad that you are getting back on track with the nutrition plan. It worked GREAT for you the first time and it will again!
