What’s For Dinner Thursday!

It’s that time of week again where I post a recipe for ya’ll!  This week I have decided to share the recipe for our homemade ice cream.  Ok, so no this isn’t our dinner…but who can pass up a yummy recipe!
What do you need?
july 2009 009
2 cans Evaporated milk
1 can Condensed Milk
1 1/4 tsp. vanilla flavoring
dash salt
2 eggs
2 cans whole milk (after you get your Evaporated milk poured up,  I fill up the cans with whole milk and pour them in)
This is made with a  Deni ice cream maker with a 1 1/2 quart container, but the recipe I make makes 3 quarts.
What do you do?
Beat your eggs, add vanilla flavoring, salt and all the milks.  Mix all of this together and put in the refrigerator for an hour or until the mixture is cold.  (this helps it make quicker!)
Once you get the mixture good and cold, pour over into your ice cream maker.  If your using one like mine it will only do half the mixture, it takes about 2o minutes to get it good and ready.  Quickly pour this into a freezer proof container.  Pour the remainder of the mixture over in and get it going.
Enjoy!
Your ice cream canister will need to be frozen for at least 24 hours prior to making your ice cream unless you have the other ice cream maker where you use ice and rock salt. (this was the way my mother always made it)

That's the recipe I use for home-made ice cream. It is so good. Nothing like homemade ice cream on a hot summer day.

I'd never made homemade ice cream until my mother-in-law gave us a Cuisinart maker for Christmas. She also gave us Madagascar Bourbon Island Vanilla Bean Paste. Sooo good in the ice cream!

I'm saving your recipe. It looks way easier than the one I've been using. I hate trying to cook the mixture and not scrable the eggs in the process!
