Girls’/Guest Bathroom Before and Afters

**edited to add the button for DIY day**
DIY Day @ ASPTL
Yay, only a couple of weeks and it’s all finished. Well, ok I’d still like to add a couple of little things but it’s finished as far as I am concerned!
Before: Beach themed with tropical fish just wasn’t going with the pink tile. I was trying to camouflage the pink but made it stick out worse!

I didn’t do very much in here, because money was tight. My inspiration was this shower curtain. I fell in love with it at Target…It was on sale when I finally made my purchase for $9.99! I decided to paint the walls a creamy off white color to help tone down the pink tile. We chose Parchment Paper by Behr. ($20.00)
The towels were purchased from Target to match the bird from the shower curtain. I only purchased one a piece for the girls and a hand towel. Not too bad, considering I got them on sale…($12.00)
The shelf and two towel hooks were also purchased from Target. ($32.00) Rug, another Target find. I had to pick out and buy 2 different ones before I got the right size and color. I didn’t want a rug for in front of the shower..Because this is their bathroom and you know kids can make a watery mess! ($10.00)
The little wire bird, Target as well ($4.99), the votive, Yankee Candle ($1.00), the basket on the shelf was Kayla’s. I am working on crafting the handle so that it will match better. The candle holder thingie, it came from Hobby Lobby on sale for $1.49!!! I couldn’t pass that up. The damask painting, I painted that, you can get the how to here. Supplies for this was about $5.00.
The mirror I spray painted brown to bring more of it into the room. I also spray painted the light fixture because we didn’t have the money to buy a new one. The old one looks white but that picture isn’t showing it’s true beauty (sarcasm there) off white with green speckles. So spray paint for it, the white I already had, the brown was about $1.00.
I also repainted the cabinet, with some of the paint we are painting our kitchen cabinets with (Kayla helped, that is the reason there is paint on the tile, I gotta get that cleaned off). The knobs were already in there, I thought they went with the glass shelf so I left them. I did however replace the hinges with ones from the kitchen cabinets where we replaced them in the redo. So those supplies, free!!
The pictures with the kids initials, I had all the supplies on hand, so they were free as well!! I did buy a new shower curtain rod to bring a little height in there. It was $6.00 and the shower curtain hooks were on sale at Target for, get this y’all, $3.00!!! I know! I thought they were really unique. (not sure if you can see them or not)
So I redid the bathroom for…….a grand whopping total of…..$106.47!
I am so happy with the turn out! We are going to eventually put more money into this bathroom with new lighting and a new vent fan. The counter top and sink will get a facelift, but this is later on when we have the money.
I also am on the hunt for a really great half circle dirty clothes hamper to replace the one the girls have now in there. It’s just that I have found one, but refuse to pay $50 to put some dirty clothes in!
One Goal completed for 2009!

Love this...You know I was so hoping to win this shower curtain from Melissa @ 320 Sycamore...but I didn't...love all the extra's and it softens up the pike tile and looks so cute blended in.

Do you know if they had anymore of those? I would so love to get one but no Target around me. Well one is an hour away and I looked for it the weekend I saw her post but no luck. If I sent you the money would you be willing to pick one up for me Joanna? If you can't I understand.

That's a seriously awesome transformation!! The shower curtain is fantastic and I love how it's not obvious that it's a child's bathroom, but still is sweet enough for kids to love. Great job!

You've done a great job here! This room looks really nice, and you've succeeded in toning down the pink. I lived with pink bathrooms for nine years (in two different houses--it must have been a popular tile choice!), and I always felt like I had to do wallpaper or fabric or something with pink in it. I like the way you've just done what you like and treated the pink as a background neutral. GOOD FOR YOU!
