House Hunting Fun

So since we are pretty serious about moving within 5 years. {that’s our goal} I thought it’d be fun to do some house hunting where I live and where we want to live.  The sorta you know what a set amount can buy you here and there.

What $150,000 will buy you in Calera, AL. {the city we want to live in}

click images for complete details other than what I tell you

This home is 3 bedrooms, 2 baths in the Waterford Subdivision.  Completely move in ready and landscaped perfectly.

What $150,000 will buy you in Panama City, FL. {the city we live in}

???

What $125,900 will buy you in Calera, AL.

Yea, those question marks, well that is because there is nothing for sale in Panama City for these prices, at all.  The closest thing I could find was for $198,000.  So I looked at the city over from ours, Lynn Haven, and what can you get there?  Well all I could find was a house for $249,900 and it’s 3 bedrooms, 2 baths.  Nothing special at all.   It’s not even as new as the ones in Calera.

Lesson learned, you can get WAY more for your money in Calera, AL! :-)

I know I already said this, but I love that you have a goal. We plan on moving within the next couple of years but we've never put down on paper what needs to be done first. I want to do that so we're ready when the time comes. Those homes are beautiful by the way ~ looks like a great place to live! ♥

Hey! My husband and I were just doing the same thing. We live in Irondale right now, to be closer to our families and his job. My office is in Calera though. And we can get a lot more house for the dollar just by moving to the Calera/Alabaster area. Maybe in a few years, when his job isn't a consideration, we are thinking we might move. Many people I work with live there, if you want to pick their brains at some point. I know they wouldn't mind.

It's unreal how much homes cost in beach communities! It's interesting to see such contrasts depending on the part of the country.

Yeah girl, you needs to go ahead and put your house up for sale and head this way! Not fair to be paying tourist prices at all. Calera's a good place forsure! I know tons of people who have decided to settle there because of the home prices. Krystal lives at Savannah Pointe...and all the homes there are VERY clean and VERY nice. And a nice pool :)

P.S. Be careful with Waterford though. Just this MONTH...TWO different balconies FELL to the ground with people on them. Hospitalized many, and killed a few :(

Obviously not made well.

Don't forget to look in Helena too :)

Exciting! I want to house hunt tooooo!

True about those balconies falling down. They have told all the tenants not to get on any balconies. But those houses in the pics are BEAUTIFUL! Hope 5 years flies by!! Y'all need to come home.
