Whirlpool…Words Can Not Express my Anger

As I used to pass through the home improvement stores I would drool as we passed the front loaders.  I always wanted one because from what I had heard your clothes get cleaner, they use less water and are just more efficient.

A few years ago, my drooling stopped, because we were finally able to take the plunge and spend the money on them.  After all, they are much more expensive than normal top loaders.

We purchased two white Whirlpool Duets.  I was ecstatic. I sat and watched, yes I sat and watched the washing machine go round and around, washing my clothes.  It was really neat and pretty entertaining!

Then about 6 months ago, my happiness with my Whirlpool Duet washing machine was squashed.  I started a load of clothes, like normal and after about 2 minutes or less into the wash, it beeped at me and flashed F20.  After wondering and Googling I discovered something about the water pressure being low.  Well, that’s pretty strange, I thought, nobody is in the shower, brushing their teeth, running the dishwasher, or running water anywhere for that matter, so why would the water pressure be low?!  Well Zack took the hoses off the back and cleaned the little openings, we ran the clean cycle and tried washing again.  Same thing.  Ok, what gives?  After starting and stopping the washer a few more times, the whole cycle would run through without any problems.

Then a month ago the Whirlpool became my worst nightmare.  Every time I would wash a load of clothes it would F20 at least once a load, no matter if I put it on cold water, hot water, or warm.  I tried all the cycles, they all would do the same freaking F20.

Then the past few days, I can’t seem to make it through one load of clothes washing the right way.  The cycle will F20 for about 20 minutes off and on while I start and stop the washer as needed to wash the clothes, then turn to rinse and spin for a little while and start and stop for the F20’s, then finally drain and spin.  I have to take time away from the kids to just wash a load of clothes and it’s annoying.  I honestly think I could get along much better with a wash tub and wash board!

I have decided that I will never own another Whirlpool again.  All of our kitchen appliances are Whirlpool, but I will start replacing them as needed with some other brand.  Because after all the trouble I’ve had with my Whirlpool washing machine, I dread to know what will happen to some other new Whirlpool appliance.

I have a Whirlpool Duet. I got the F20 error too. Then I realized it happened because I had shut the faucets to the washing machine off because the hose was leaking as a temporary fix and hadn't turned them back on when tried to use the washer. oops.

Have you called Whirlpool customer service and asked them how to fix the constant F20 error code?

Our faucets to the washer are both on. We have turned them off and cleaned the screens several different times and always check to make sure they are turned back on. Especially when we have this F20 code.

Irritating! You should DEF call Whirlpool and have them fix it. That's just redonkulous!!!!

Even if it is out of warranty it would probably be worth a service call to find out if it is just an easy fix, maybe some sort of internal fuse blown/going out or something minor like that.

Seriously every one I know who has a front-loading machine (with one exception) has had problems repeatedly with them breaking!
