Antique Dresser Renovation/Makeover

**edited to add**  I am linking this up over at Kimba’s for…
DIY Day @ ASPTL
So there is this dresser that belonged to my grandmother and granddaddy that had been mine when I was a young girl and now belongs to Kayla.  I love my Kayla but she is destructive!  Or at least was when she was younger.  So, it needed to be made over!
I had been talking about doing this for a long time…And so the other day I took the plunge….

(oh see that desk in the reflection…that’s next!)
I started by filling in the top with wood filler….there were tons of  places that needed fixing.
Then I primed it….and painted two coats of Parchment Paper by Behr.  This is the same color that I used in the girls/guest bathroom.  There was a lot left and it was the perfect off white color to match her bed.

Ahhhh…much better.  I spray painted the knobs and pulls with brushed nickel spray paint since all our accents throughout our home are brushed nickel.

I added a runner (body pillow pillow case and a striped sham) to the top to keep her from messing it up….She will appreciate me when she gets older and it’s still in perfect condition!
I was surprised what a difference this little makeover made.  I can’t wait to tackle that desk and chair!!

I think it's pretty and looks a lot better.I also think you made a good choice in switching the knobs and handles around.

That looks so great Joanna. Maybe there's hope for our dresser.

OMG.. I love love this. I want to do this to the trim in the babies room.. and now that I see the great color... it's happening! No doubt about it in my mind. Think the guy will let me do it to the armoire and the dresser? I HATE how dark these are....

Ideas.. Ideas!

I agree, the white paint makes it really fresh. She will appreciate that dresser when she's older because they sure don't make them like they used to!

That turned out great! I've been meaning to do my own bedroom furniture for a while now because it's sooooo dark and I am not a dark furniture girl. Maybe this is the inspiration I need to finally get it going!

Thanks so much for linking to Transformation Thursday!

Looks fabulous! I'm cruising the internet looking for remodel ideas for... that exact same dresser! It was given to me by a friend, do you know anything about how old it is?

I love the outcome of this make over! Did you have to sand it? Or just primer over everything? I would like to see the mirror taken off and hung up higher though. Fantastic job, well done!
