So Nice to be Home...

Don't you just love going out of town to visit with family? I know that I do, but I dread the trip back home. The unpacking, (because you always bring home more than you took), the mess you make as you come home, the mess that you may have left (we left the dishwasher going when we left out on Friday), and just being tired. What was horrible is, we made it home around 4:30 yesterday, unloaded the car and had to change clothes in lighting time, because Kelsie had to be at ballet last night. (exhausted, we all are) It’s after 10 this morning and Kelsie and I are just getting up! (that was nice)
We had a busy (as always) but fun weekend. Friday when we got there we didn’t do anything much except eat a yummy bowl of my daddy’s blue ribbon (literally) chili.october2008 002 It really hit the spot! It seemed as though the temperature inside a car traveling at 70 mph, really seems to be 20 degrees cooler than the outside air. I froze the whole way up, wearing a jacket and all!
Saturday we had a long day at the Pumpkin Patch..The day started out very overcast and chilly. As we were pulling up at the pumpkin patch, the temperature rose so quickly because the sun decided to make it’s appearance.

On the hay ride…It was hard to get Kelsie to sit still long enough to get a picture. She was so excited!

The perfect pumpkin..She chose it herself. I was happy with her choice. It looks great on the porch… (will be showing those later)

The girls loved riding the horse! The little trip just wasn’t long enough. One of these family weekends we are going to head some place to ride horses.

Our family tradition…The Old Baker Farm Pumpkin Patch in Harpersville, AL.
Oh and one more picture, just incase you head over there…This is Peanut. One Christmas many many years ago when we lived in AL and I was a lot younger (can’t remember the exact age, but it was at least 14 years or so ago…My brother and his family always came to visit us on Christmas Eve. He saw this pig, much smaller at the time, running down the road. (our neighbors had him like a dog) He went up to their house and purchased Peanut…After many years living with the family (his wife, and my niece and nephew) Peanut grew and grew and got mean, so they gave him to The Old Baker Farm..Here he is today…october2008 016 So, now you can kinda personally know Peanut!
On the way to my daddy’s house you have to pass the giant “butt” as the kids and I say…

I didn’t get the “good” side of this peach. One side looks like a hiney. And we always get a good little laugh when passing by it. Then there is this house that I would love to see inside of…They had been building on it and now it looks as though it is complete. One side of it, they have 3 air units! I think that the people must have went bankrupt because it just sorta sits now. What a shame too. Somebody should be living in this castle…october2008 011 (picture doesn’t do this one justice)
Sunday, Zack washed and waxed my car. It took him 4 hours! But it was well worth the wait. It was so shiny and clean, looked new again! While he did that the girls and I went to the neighbors house and they swung for hours and then we watched some cartoons. Afterwards we went shopping. Old Navy, Belk and Walmart. What a combo! : ) I picked up Kelsie a Disney Princess jacket and Kayla a couple of shirts for school. By the time we were finished up, it was time to head back to the house for our marshmallow and winnie roast! My niece and nephew headed over for the fun.

Here is the hotdog that I made…I had to eat it with a fork! *smiles*
october2008 082 Sunday night daddy and I headed to the hospital where mother had been taken from the nursing home. Please say a prayer for her. I know that I haven’t talked about my mother much and I will do just that… Not now of course, I have written a novel..But I will tell everyone all about her and why she is now living in a nursing home. Just a little prayer if you will. *smiles*

It looks like y'all had an amazing time at your pumpkin patch too!! Cute, CUTE pictures of your girls and every one!! I think I enjoy these trips just as much as Lexi does! I always love a good trip that you can "make memories" on!! Your chili dog looks great....that is just how I LOVE them!!! It is so neat that Peanut ended up with a home there.

I will keep your mother in my heart and prayers.

Just started reading along here! Your trip sounded like such fun, we have yet to make it to the pumpkin patch here with the little ones.

I will be praying too!
