Wordless {almost} Wednesday – Worlds Most Beautiful Beaches

June 2009 112

We live in the state known for it’s beautiful beaches on the gulf coast.  Snow white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. I pray that they stay that way in the sunshine state.

I am not a beach go’er, I may go twice a year, in a good year, I am just not a fan of that sticky water and messy sand.  But that doesn’t mean that I want it ruined by an oil spill that is already affecting our lives.  Seafood prices went up yesterday, $1.00 more per pound of crabs and $.50 more per pound of shrimp.  What’s next and how much more is it going to rise.

We live in a huge tourist area where the bed tax helps us out tremendously, but with people already canceling their vacations it’s going to have a negative impact on our economy.  The rising gas prices is going to really hurt.  We are already above the national average year round.

The oil may be on the surface of the water but it will affect all wild life as it lurks ashore.  All I can think about now is the dolphins as they breech the waters surface to breathe in fresh air….

Just stop and say a prayer that they find something that will stop this.

In addition to the thoughts on my vacation (small in comparison to what's REALLY going on), I feel for the people who strongly depend on that water and for it to be clear or businesses fail and then residents are affected. My prayers are with all of the coast and all of the marine life. I was thinking about the dolphins (you know how I love them). Sigh!

This has been on my mind a lot too just this past week. I can hardly bear to watch the news reports.
My prayers are with the whole gulf region.

Great pics! I LOVE the ocean and just about any beach! Keeping positive thoughts for all those gulf states and FL that this oil spill gets taken care of before too much more damage is done!

Yikes! It is really awful to think about! We're wondering if it will be ok to go even in August!
